
How do I join the CCAC?Membership in the City Clerks Association of California provides members with reduced registration fees to the City Clerks Annual Conference and the annual New Law and Elections Seminar sponsored by the League of California Cities. In addition, reduced fees are available for education and training at CCAC, Division and League of California Cities seminars and opportunities are provided for various scholarships for additional education and training. Educational programs for new City Clerks are held prior to or following the Annual Conference. New Clerks are trained by experienced City Clerks providing practical day to day operating standards.

California Registered Municipal Clerk Certification Requirements
There are three (3) divisions of the City Clerk’s Association: Northern, Central and Southern California. Membership in one of these divisions is automatic upon payment of dues to the City Clerks Association of California. The CCAC Second Vice President can assist with determining which division a member would be entitled to join. Active Member Any appointed or elected City clerk or appointed assistant or deputy city clerk representing a city in the State of California is eligible for voting membership. One voting member per city is designated. CCAC annual dues payment is required. Associate Member Associate membership is available to assistant or deputy city clerks whose city clerk is a voting member, institutions and/or organizations whose operations are closely allied with the functions of the city clerk office and professional persons in fields directly related to municipal government. Lifetime Membership Lifetime membership can be conferred on any person who requests such membership and fulfills all of the following criteria: employed by one or more municipalities performing City Clerk duties; has been a voting member or associate of the organization for at least ten years; has been a voting member of the association for at least two years of total requirement of ten yeas membership. Affiliate MemberAny former voting or associate member who has left office and who is not a lifetime member may request an affiliate membership with CCAC board approval. Honorary Member Honorary membership may be proposed at an annual institute or by petition for persons who have made outstanding contributions to the association.
Dues rates are determined by the population of your City or whether you are an Affiliate/Retired Member, Governmental Agency or Non-governmental Agency. Dues are reviewed annually and can be found in the City Clerk’s Directory as part of the CCAC Bylaws and Executive Board Policies.
