ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Sacramento is recruiting for a highly collaborative person to lead our Good Governance Initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to create a program focused on education of regulations, policies, and values with the objective of upholding the public's trust. We are looking for someone with a panoramic view of the city, global knowledge about regulations and policies and a proactive attitude toward transparency and open government. The ideal candidate will communicate with confidence and clarity and will possess the political acumen, judgment, and analytic skills to identify and mitigate potential risks and to integrate best practices into our culture. This person will be successful by building relationships with a diverse group of staff, elected and appointed individuals, and community members, and possess the skills and human qualities to advise, educate and raise awareness on the significance of ethics and compliance.

Under general direction of the City Clerk the Compliance Officer plans, directs, and coordinates all of the activities related to the City's compliance program; conducts studies and makes recommendations; monitors program compliance; represents the compliance program in contacts with the media, internal and external agencies, and organizations; receives and directs compliance issues to appropriate resources for investigation and resolution; ensures that legislative body members and employees receive training as required by state mandates and the City's Sunshine Ordinance, Ethics Code, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration or a closely related field.

Experience: Six years of progressively responsible professional-level administrative and analytical experience.

Note:  It is highly desirable that the required years of professional-level experience be attained in a governmental jurisdiction.
