The City of Jurupa Valley is seeking an experienced professional who can perform a wide variety of administrative and supportive tasks in the City Clerk's Department.

Examples of General Responsibilities:  Assists in the preparation, assembly and distribution of agenda packets, assists with municipal elections, prepares and coordinates the publication, posting, and distribution and of legal notices, attends City Council, Commission, and Committee meetings and prepares official meeting minutes as required, assists with the coordination of conflict of interest code filings and political reform act filings, assists City staff on records and imaging activities, public records software and retrieval, tracking insurance, contracts, and surety bonds, and assisting with bid openings.

The nature, scope, and diversity of responsibilities of this classification require a broader understanding of City functions and the capability of relieving the City Clerk of day-to-day office administrative and coordinative duties, as well as fulfilling some of the duties of the City Clerk in his/her absence.

Minimum Qualifications

Education; Training; Experience

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and:

Two years of college course work in public or business administration or a related field and three years of increasingly responsible administrative experience providing support to a council, board, commission, or other body that involved office and records management, developing agendas, and taking and transcribing minutes; or any combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

Possession of a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks is highly desirable.  Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a safe driving record at appointment is required.
