Master Municipal Clerk Academy (MMCA)

The Master Municipal Clerk Academy (MMCA) is the Advanced Institute for California, with content created for the more tenured and experienced municipal, county, and special district Clerk. MMCA is specifically for those working on attaining the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) or Certified Clerk of the Board of Supervisors designation. Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) candidates will be accepted. The content is applicable and value-added for Clerks to the Board of Supervisors (County), Special District clerks, and City and Deputy Clerks. All gather with the common bond of a desire for lifelong learning, as these professionals continue to lead in their respective fields.

California MMC Institute Virtual Leadership Series

Our MMC Academy Institute Director Pamela Miller recognizes how much you value educational and professional development opportunities. So, while she is saddened that she cannot join you in person this September, she is happy to announce a special short-term virtual offering as a replacement for the September Academy. These sessions will be in the unique interactive format you’ve come to expect from the Academy.

Mark your calendars and join me for the Virtual CA Master Municipal Clerk and Clerk of the Board Academy. The Academy offers each participant a total of 18 educational hours for 9 CMC/MMC points with sessions designed for those working to earn your Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) credential.

One registration price covers all 18 educational hours and all Academy materials. Registration is $540 and is now open. The Academy is spread out over a three-month period.

The in-person Academy offers a unique experience for the first session of each Academy, and this virtual Academy will be no different. If this is your first time attending the MMCA, you will be required to attend the 1st year session; if this is your second time attending, you are required to attend the 2nd year session; and if you have attended three or more times, you are required to attend the Advanced session.

All other sessions are for the entire learning community and full attendance at all of them is required for successful completion. You must complete all 18 hours of session time, fully participate, and complete a Learning Assessment to receive a certificate of completion. No certificates will be issued for partial credit or partial hours. No exceptions.

As with the in-person Academy, sessions being offered include a focus on professional, management and leadership concepts and skills. You will get a little bit of each during your virtual Academy experience. See the curriculum section of the website for details on each session. You will need to carefully check your calendar and be able to attend all of the required sessions.

All sessions will be conducted using Zoom software. These will be interactive sessions so participants will be required to have their camera on and be seen for the entire session and you must be in a location that allows for full participation. No exceptions will be made to this requirement. No device sharing is allowed.
